FTXT has a global multicultural team with R&D centers in Shanghai, Baoding, Germany and Canada.  This position is in Vancouver BC at FTXT’s fuel cell stack center of excellence.  FTXT offers a highly competitive salary and benefits package with a culture of innovation.  FTXT has an immediate and exciting opportunity for a full-time Process Development Engineer (Plate/ Seal).  The successful candidate will report to the CTO and perform a variety of key roles within a 30-person team in 2022 growing to 50-100 people in the next 5 years.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Drive development of new/innovative manufacturing processes from proof of concept through production with good quality, high yield and low cost.


Characterize existing processes, conduct DoEs establish controls for critical parameters, improve process robustness

Proficient in data analysis / interpretation and presentation of experimental data

Commissioning new production lines

Work collaboratively with cross functional teams and external suppliers.

Establish process controls for SPC and develop process related OCAPs

Develop and manage PFMEA risk assessments to prioritize process improvement projects and ensure adequate metrology and controls are in place.

Debug process integration issues to ensure interactions between processes are kept under control

Build process documentation to accurately define the process to cross-functional teams (equipment, quality, production, etc.)

Model holistic process costs using bottoms-up system approach


QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND COMPETENCIES:


Either an Engineering degree with relevant experience in interdisciplinary/integrated engineering, process development, manufacturing engineering, or equivalent. Senior roles available for more experienced candidates.

3+ years of experience working in a PEM fuel cell system engineering role.

Familiar with fuel cell stack components (especially bi-polar plates and seals).. 

Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and ability to apply them towards manufacturing process development

Proven problem solver - demonstrated experience of data driven root cause analysis, statistical software (JMP) a plus

Demonstrated capabilities in manufacturing process development for new and unique products

Experience in high volume manufacturing involving one or more of these areas is highly desired:

Liquid injection moulding processes

Fuel cell bi-polar plate processes

Fuel cell sealing processes

Industrial chemical processing

Fuel cell stack manufacturing

Proactive, detail oriented strategic thinker with exceptional analytical abilities and sound judgment.

Strong organizational and problem-solving skills; demonstrated ability to prioritize conflicting requirements in a timely manner.

Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate in a team environment and able to work independently.

Ability to work under pressure to meet tight timelines and to respond to pressing issues.
