On October 9, GWM HYDROGEN FTXT and the Instituto de Pesquisas Tecnológicas (IPT) officially announced the establishment of a strategic partnership. The two parties will conduct joint testing and research focusing on the safety, reliability, and feasibility of hydrogen applications for heavy-duty vehicles.
This cooperation was formally announced during the inauguration ceremony of IPT's new hydrogen laboratory (LabH₂), marking a substantive step for GWM HYDROGEN FTXT in the technological implementation and market expansion within Brazil's hydrogen-powered heavy-duty truck sector. It is set to propel a crucial step forward for Brazil in the field of green transportation.
According to the agreement, the collaboration will leverage IPT's robust scientific research capabilities and GWM HYDROGEN FTXT's leading expertise in hydrogen technology to jointly advance the commercial application of hydrogen fuel cell technology in Brazil's heavy-duty transport sector.
Instituto de Pesquisas Tecnológicas was established in 1899, is one of Brazil's oldest and most prestigious scientific and technological R&D institutions, affiliated with the São Paulo State Department of Science and Technology. IPT possesses comprehensive research capabilities spanning multiple fields, including energy, materials, and housing construction, and has established a complete innovation chain from basic research and technology transfer to testing and verification. Its newly built LabH₂ is equipped with R&D facilities covering the entire hydrogen industry chain, including 70MPa and 35MPa hydrogen refueling stations, providing a solid technical foundation for this cooperation.
The inauguration ceremony and partnership announcement event were exceptionally grand, attracting approximately 1,000 guests, including representatives from the São Paulo state government, media journalists, IPT researchers, and key industry clients.
At the event, a hydrogen-powered heavy-duty truck powered by the core propulsion system supplied by GWM HYDROGEN FTXT was unveiled. São Paulo State Vice-Governor Felicio Ramuth visited and experienced the hydrogen truck, expressing high praise for this technological achievement.
He emphasized, "Brazil places great importance on the development of green energy and regards it as a core component of the future national energy strategy. We have formulated a series of policy measures to actively encourage the R&D and application of clean energy technologies like hydrogen, to promote sustainable economic growth and continuous environmental improvement. Collaborations like the one between GWM HYDROGEN FTXT and IPT are precisely the innovative models we support and anticipate."
This partnership not only represents a significant milestone for GWM HYDROGEN FTXT's global strategy and its hydrogen business in overseas markets but will also accelerate the promotion and application of hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks in Brazil and the broader South American market, injecting strong momentum into global energy transition and the development of green transportation.
